Hello! I’m a woman living an extraordinary life. At one point, I thought running through ‘Hell’ was hard till I met ‘Supernatural‘, so I ran harder only to meet ‘Unfair’, hoping for an end I kept running only to be faced with ‘unbelievable’ that was followed by ‘Shocking’, ‘Tragic’ and ‘Traumatic’ soon after. I still kept running hoping for an ‘Exit’ to find that every exit led me to another ‘Entrance’!
Shelli de Silva, Sri Lankan born, is from a middle class family of four. Her parents are currently in Sri Lanka and her only sibling is her dearly loved brother who lives in Indiana. From her very young days she was very opinionated and wouldn’t allow anyone tell her what she couldn’t do. Shelli had her first dream (one of many) when she was 12 years old. It was to come to the United States, her imaginary ‘home’. 10 years and 10,000 miles later, she made her imagination a reality by making her way to Arizona, to pursue her higher education in Mechanical Engineering.
Despite being a victim of domestic violence for 3 years and of Rape, she graduated with her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees both in Mechanical Engineering. She then moved to Indiana when she landed her dream job as a Machine Integration Engineer with the world’s leading Diesel Engine Manufacturer. Within six months she launched and delivered a six sigma project, which was once, labeled impossible. Soon she was presenting new concepts at Global Conferences to Global Leaders of the company. Her fast paced career took another toll when she found herself laid off in a global layoff after one and a half years in to her corporate career. She fought through struggle after struggle, those of which us immigrants are well aware of and decided that she was finally going to live her life’s true purpose. A total of 26 interview with Apple and Google for just 2 positions, making it to the last rounds and not being offered a job, made her open her eyes. That’s when she answered her wakeup call and realized that she was meant to do so much more than just work for a company! She packed her life in her car, 5 days, 2700 miles and after endless driving by herself, came to San Francisco CA. She had no job, no family, no friends and no place to stay in San Francisco, but she claims she had ALL of her gut!.Today she stands tall writing a book called ‘Victim to Warrior’ and being involved in uplifting other’s lives through her blog ‘victimtowarrior.com‘. She also plans on opening her own clothing line down the road to support her cause. Always full of fresh ideas, Shelli claims that this is only the beginning of her work in inspiring, uplifting and empowering others!
Wrongly Accused Founding CEO To Take Back Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary & Hospital
JUPITER, April 7, 2014 — On Wednesday April 9, 2014, Attorney Barry Silver will be holding a press conference to announce that his client, Safe Harbor Founder Kay-Lynette Roca was illegally fired from her 28 year position with the organization. Silver plans to file suit, challenging the legality of said meeting as well as Roca’s termination. Silver will also be challenging the legality of the current board who in October 2013, orchestrated yet another takeover. A group of past board members led by Herbert Baum took Safe Harbor over and abruptly changed the name to Furry Friends.
After a 14 months of being investigated under a microscope, Roca is coming forward and speaking out for the first time about the tragic events that have changed her life this past year. Roca is quoted as saying “I can no longer tolerate watching while the organization that I loved, nurtured and guided for almost three decades is run into the ground by an administration and board with absolutely no background experience or knowledge of animal welfare. I am also speaking out on behalf of myself and my family after being harassed, maligned and slandered by this same administration and board.”
Roca was abruptly fired on January 16, 2013 after Patty Palmer Amoroso and three PBSO employees plotted the take over of Roca’s beloved no-kill organization. Over two dozen more innocent longterm Roca supporters were also fired, then replaced by Amoroso and Verdigi’s inexperienced, overpaid family and friends.
Roca was also quoted as saying that, “Never in 28 years did an animal suffer or die due to neglect or cruelty under my watch.
Yet in just one year, it has been reported that close to a dozen animals have died due to abuse and neglect at our Palm City Ranch and several more have suffered injuries over the last year under Amoroso’s management.” PBACC was also called in at least once due to the shelter deliberately withholding water from the dogs.
“No one, but my family and close friends, will ever know how many tears I have shed or sleepless nights I have battled, thinking about the abuse my animals were suffering at the hands of those people” said Roca.
Silver was stated as saying that the current board “can either do this the easy way by stepping down or the hard way, which will be in a court of law.”
Candy O’Donnell was born in Carmichael, California where she immediately encountered her grandparent’s dogs. Her parents did not have much to speak of, and her grandparents were always there to pick up the slack. Pets quickly became a huge part of her life and still today many animals reside in her home and stories.
At the age of twelve, she wrote her first mini book. Filled mostly with what took place with her mother and her long tedious bout with leukemia. It was a short story told as extra credit when she suffered a sprained ankle and had to be out of school for over two months. School officials refused to believe a word of what she had written until her grandmother, her guardian back then, entered the school with the truth. Everything she had written down was exactly what took place. Unfortunately her mother succumbed to the disease.
She earned a Bachelor’s degree in History and Culture. After living with her aunt and uncle for over five years she wished to explore her uncle’s Native heritage and did so with vigor. S https://www.facebook.com/AuthorCandyODonnell http://authorcandyodonnell.blogspot.com/
